I took the opportunity while I was in Fethiye to get the bus ticket to Antep and to book the taxi from Kilis to Aleppo for next week's journey to Syria. The plan is then to take the train from Aleppo to Damascus. A flatbed scooter.

The only problem is, of course, that I shall be arriving again at the frontier without a visa. I hope the Syrians will be as accommodating as they were in December. A pickup bike with a disability plate.

A scooter for delivering water.

Someone clearly proud of - and worried about - their purchase. A brand-new bike, no number plate yet, chained to a car bumper

When I went back to the jeweller's I was pleased to discover that an item I paid £800 for a few years ago would now cost me £2,000. He said, if you sell it now you'll make £1,000 profit. I wish I'd put all my money into gold. The town Vespa.

In the harbour a big American-registered boat. The dog waiting patiently for its owner and the crew busy revarnishing.

Harley-Davidson Eyes India - El Segundo - Roland Sands - PEZ Chopper - Billy Lane

"Orange County Choppers, Inc., the group behind the American Chopper television show, is constructing this PEZ chopper for display at the PEZ factory. OCC charges $100,000 or more to do a themed motorcycle like this. PEZ is apparently also planning an Orange County Choppers Gift Set that will be "limited" to 250,000 or 300,000 sets. There will be a set of three dispensers, one for each of the stars of the show: Paul Sr., Paul Jr., and Mikey. The release date is supposed to be around October. If this happens, it will represent a departure from PEZ's long-standing rule that no dispensers are made of real people. Dispensers showing "humans" are not prohibited, but dispensers showing a real-life person are -- or were. A Princess Leia dispenser shows a "person", but that person is a character from a movie, not the actress playing the character. The OCC guys may seem a bit cartoonish, but they are real people playing themselves on the show, not actors playing a character."

"Innovation is a very basic concept. You either set the trends, or you follow them."
"Harley-Davidson Motor Company, the US-based maker of iconic sportster and cruise motorcycles, has set its eyes on the Indian market. Harley-Davidson will look at tapping the Indian market by using the import route. In the first week of this month, the company’s executives were here, making the rounds of the commerce ministry. Their agenda was to find out the government’s intent regarding the emission norms on high-end motorcycles and to seek a reduction in Customs duty on the bikes, says government officials."

Jawa Training Motorcycle

This is a Jawa training motorcycle featured in a old issue of Cycle. It was powered by a 250cc 2 stroke engine and had complete dual controls. The instructor sits in back and has fully functioning handlebars connected, by rods, to the front forks with a throttle, front brake pedal and footshift for the 4 speed transmission and there was also an ignition cutoff. Billy Lane - Steve McQueen Collection - radial motor chopper - Chopsmiths Chopper - Johnny Pag 250 Spyder

"JRL Cycles is currently building what is probably the first radial motor chopper. One of the largest air-cooled motors ever to power a motorcycle the 7-cylinder radial is the same type used to power aircraft during World War II and is believed to be the basis for the V-twin motorcycle motor."

But it’s no accident that Southern California veteran custom bike builder, Johnny Pag has now brought home from China a new motorcycle, the Spyder 250, that just might take the Ultimate Most Bang for the Buck Award. While the bike is assembled in China, specifically at a 650,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant near the city of Wenzhou, its design is definitely Made in America, all components drafted up by Johnny to his exacting specifications, and not by e-mail or telephone. Johnny’s a hands-on kind of guy and spent six months out of the year working on location in China on the project. His son, JR, joined him on the long distance work commute and in fact began taking Chinese language lessons."

"Here’s what Cyril wrote, “Do you remember the surge of adrenalin we all felt as kids when a big red fire engine roared down the street, sporting delicious red paint, sparkling gold leaf and screaming sirens. Daily, firemen experience high speed dashes to roaring flames. The business of firefighting is steeped in high adventure, danger & heroism. The bike was built by Cyril Huze to benefit the IAFF (International Association Of Firefighters) Burn Foundation. We'll bring you more info on the auction as it nears. "

Von Dutch Speedball - Huze Fireman Tribute Bobber - Biker Build-Off Behind the Scenes - Kendall Johnson

"At this point, July, 2006, Von Dutch just came on board Bikernet and we’ve looked forward to featuring one of their bikes. I may be somewhat off track in some eyes, but I see this as a high compliment. When I look at Von Dutch production bikes I see the design and detail levels of Cyril Huze. Every Von Dutch bike I’ve seen has those extra details accenting the style or character of the machine."

Vintage hoodlums - Rusting Street Fighter - James Bond 007 Bike - Indian Larry Legacy: "Blue Bayou" Bike

"This motorcycle took me over a 1 year-and-a-half to build, not because it was really hard or complicated, but because my wife had our son, and I just did not have as much free time as I thought.

I sold my last bike the weekend my son was born. I was making the deal, at the hospital, while my wife was in labor. I met the guy the next weekend and he took possession of the Deuce. The next Monday I started ordering parts. My intention was to have the motorcycle completed in three months. Well, that didn't happen. "
